• Confirm the frame markings and seller description match this archived model. Note every component that differs from the published build.
• Record the frame serial number. It should be legible, unaltered and consistent with the seller’s ownership history.
• Find the size marking on the bicycle and confirm the fit before judging the condition or price.

• Inspect the fork stanchions for scratches or coating wear, look for oil or dirt rings at the seals, and cycle the fork through its travel while checking for binding or bushing play.
• Ask for dated fork-service records. A clean exterior does not establish the condition of internal seals, oil or bushings.

• Inspect the frame in bright light for cracks, dents, distortion, corrosion, impact marks, suspicious paint differences or evidence of repair. Check the head tube, bottom-bracket area, dropouts, joints and clamped surfaces especially closely.
• Inspect the fork crown, blades or lowers, dropouts and visible steerer area for damage or misalignment. If suspension is fitted, check exposed sliding surfaces and seals for damage, oil or looseness.
• Ask directly about crashes, transport damage and repairs. A clean exterior does not prove alignment or rule out concealed structural damage.

• Sight along the frame and fork from several directions. Confirm the fork, rear dropouts, head tube and other visible interfaces appear straight and symmetrical.
• Use professional alignment tools when crash history, wheel tracking, dropout position or bearing alignment cannot be established visually.

• Inspect threaded shells, bearing seats, axle interfaces and the derailleur hanger for corrosion, stripped threads, cracks, distortion or tool damage.
• Check the seatpost bore, seat clamp, bonded inserts, cable ports, guides and frame plugs for damage or missing hardware.
• Identify and measure every interface rather than assuming a standard from model name or appearance. Confirm replacement parts remain available before purchase.

• List every included part and small fitting, including axles, headset pieces, seat clamps, derailleur hangers, cable guides, frame plugs, suspension hardware and proprietary covers.
• Inspect threaded, pressed, clamped and bonded interfaces for corrosion, cracks, distortion, stripped threads, tool damage or improvised repairs.
• If damage, alignment or compatibility is uncertain, have the bare frameset inspected and measured by a qualified bicycle mechanic before choosing components.
