Welcome to Velopedia.com (“Velopedia”). These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of the website, My Garage, Bike History Reports, bicycle-record transfers, and other Velopedia content and services. By accessing or using Velopedia, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the website.

1. Purpose of Velopedia

Velopedia is an independent educational, technical, historical, and practical bicycle reference. Its content and features may include:

• Technical bicycle articles and reference entries
• Historical and current bicycle specifications
• Practical guides, inspection guidance, and ride analysis
• Bicycle setup and calculation tools
• Original archive-based research and Trends
• Private records for physical bicycles in My Garage
• Owner-created Bike History Reports
• Third-party marketplace listings and estimated market information

Velopedia does not directly sell bicycles or bicycle products, broker transactions, transfer legal title, certify ownership, perform remote mechanical inspections, or provide professional mechanical, engineering, legal, financial, appraisal, insurance, or safety advice.

2. Eligibility and My Garage Access

You must be at least 13 years old to use My Garage. If you are under the age of legal majority where you live, use the service only with permission and supervision from a parent or legal guardian.

My Garage uses passwordless email access. You are responsible for:

• Providing an email address you control
• Keeping single-use sign-in links and active sessions private
• Signing out of shared or public devices
• Promptly notifying Velopedia if you believe your Garage has been accessed without authorization

You may not request sign-in links for another person’s email address, attempt to access another member’s Garage, intercept a sign-in or transfer link, or bypass access and security controls.

3. Garage Records and User Responsibilities

Each My Garage record is intended to describe one physical bicycle. You may save a matched Velopedia Archive model or create a private owner-entered bicycle when the exact model is not available.

You are responsible for the accuracy, legality, and appropriateness of all information you enter. You agree that you will:

• Add or manage only bicycles you own, possess, service, or are otherwise authorized to document
• Avoid false, misleading, fraudulent, defamatory, or unlawful claims
• Distinguish work you personally performed from work performed by a shop or another person
• Avoid presenting an estimate, recollection, or unverified statement as a receipt, professional inspection, or verified service record
• Obtain any permission needed before identifying a mechanic, shop, prior owner, or other person
• Avoid entering unnecessary sensitive or unrelated personal information
• Keep private notes appropriate for storage on an internet-connected service

A serial number is an optional identifier, not proof of ownership. The same serial may appear in more than one Garage. Velopedia does not operate a bicycle-title registry, stolen-bike registry, ownership adjudication service, or automatic record-merging system.

Marking a bicycle as saved, current, for sale, sold, or archived describes the member’s organization of the record. It does not create or determine legal ownership or title.

4. Owner-Created Bicycles and Specifications

An owner-created bicycle remains a private Garage record and does not create or modify a public Velopedia Bicycle Archive page.

Manufacturer, model, model year, bicycle type, specifications, setup, identity, and other information entered by a Garage member have not been independently matched or verified by Velopedia unless the report separately displays a Velopedia Archive source. Fill in only what you reasonably know and label uncertainty honestly.

5. Owner Photographs and Other User Content

You retain any ownership rights you have in photographs, text, notes, specifications, service records, and other content you submit (“User Content”). You represent that you have the necessary rights and permissions to submit and use that content.

You grant Velopedia a nonexclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, validate, resize, re-encode, display, transmit, and otherwise process User Content only as reasonably necessary to operate My Garage, create reports you request, complete transfers, maintain security and backups, and comply with law.

Do not upload photographs or content that:

• Infringe copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, or other rights
• Contain malware or are intended to disrupt the service
• Reveal unnecessary personal or sensitive information
• Are unlawful, threatening, hateful, sexually exploitative, deceptive, or otherwise abusive
• Depict a bicycle or service record in a materially misleading way

Velopedia may remove User Content or suspend access when reasonably necessary to address security, legal, infringement, or abuse concerns.

6. Bike History Reports

A Bike History Report organizes selected Velopedia Archive information and information documented by a Garage member. It may include owner-entered identity, specifications, photographs, setup, upgrades, service details, costs, service-provider names, notes, and inspection results.

The member who creates a report is responsible for reviewing it before sharing and for ensuring that it does not contain misleading claims or information the member lacks permission to disclose.

Bike History Reports are not:

• Legal title, ownership, lien, theft, or identity checks
• Independent mechanical or safety inspections
• Authentication or frame-integrity certifications
• Verification that a named shop or mechanic performed the listed work
• Verification of receipts, mileage, hours, costs, parts, or service dates
• Warranties, appraisals, insurance valuations, or guarantees of condition

Buyers and other report viewers must inspect the physical bicycle, confirm its identity and serial directly, check relevant stolen-bike resources, verify material receipts and claims, and obtain professional assistance where appropriate.

7. Sharing and Revoking Reports

An active Bike History Report is accessible to anyone who has its sharing link. You are responsible for deciding who receives the link and what optional information the report includes.

Velopedia excludes the member email address, private Garage notes, private inspection notes, and full serial number from reports. The final four serial characters and My Setup appear only when the member selects those options. Other service and upgrade notes may appear in the report.

You may revoke or replace the hosted report link. Revocation prevents future access through that Velopedia link but cannot retrieve or invalidate a PDF, printout, screenshot, cached copy, listing attachment, message, or other copy already created or shared by another person.

8. Bicycle-Record Transfers

The transfer feature moves a Velopedia Garage record between member email identities. It does not sell a bicycle, transfer legal title, verify payment, confirm delivery, certify either party’s identity, or resolve an ownership dispute.

The sender is responsible for:

• Having authority to transfer the record
• Entering the intended recipient’s exact email address
• Reviewing the record and removing information that should not move
• Canceling an incorrect or unwanted invitation before it is accepted
• Completing the actual bicycle transaction separately and safely

The recipient is responsible for reviewing the invitation and record before accepting it. Acceptance is not proof that the physical bicycle was delivered, paid for, authentic, safe, or legally owned by the sender.

When a transfer is accepted, the bicycle identity, serial, owner photograph, owner-entered specifications, setup, upgrades, service history, and assigned inspection results move to the recipient’s Garage. The former owner’s private Garage notes and private inspection notes are cleared, the previous report link is revoked, and the former owner loses control of the transferred record. Copies of an earlier report made outside Velopedia may continue to exist.

9. Prohibited Conduct

You may not use Velopedia to:

• Access, probe, scrape, overload, disrupt, or circumvent the website or its security controls
• Impersonate another person or misrepresent your authority over a bicycle or record
• Create a fraudulent service history, inspection history, listing, report, or ownership transfer
• Harass another person or use transfer or sign-in emails as spam
• Upload malicious code or content that violates another person’s rights
• Harvest email addresses, report links, transfer links, or private Garage information
• Use automated systems in a manner that burdens the service or bypasses published restrictions
• Facilitate theft, fraud, unlawful sales, or another illegal activity

Velopedia may rate-limit, suspend, restrict, or terminate access and may preserve or disclose information when reasonably necessary to investigate abuse, protect users, comply with law, or enforce these Terms.

10. Educational and Mechanical Disclaimer

Information on Velopedia is provided for general educational and reference purposes.

Bicycle assembly, repair, modification, fit, setup, inspection, and component selection can involve significant safety risks. Velopedia information is not a substitute for:

• Manufacturer instructions
• Current service documentation
• Product safety notices or recalls
• Inspection by a qualified bicycle mechanic
• Professional advice appropriate to the circumstances

You are responsible for verifying specifications, compatibility, torque settings, procedures, condition, and safety requirements before working on, purchasing, selling, or riding a bicycle.

11. Bicycle Archive Information

Velopedia’s Bicycle Archive contains historical and current specifications assembled from legacy records, manufacturer materials, catalogs, product pages, and other reference sources.

Specifications may vary because of:

• Regional or mid-production changes
• Component substitutions
• Bicycle size or color variations
• Manufacturer revisions
• Errors or omissions in original source material
• Later modifications to the physical bicycle

Archive information describes a model as published and should be treated as reference information, not as a guarantee of the equipment originally supplied with or currently installed on a particular bicycle.

12. Trends, Tools, Calculators, and Estimates

Velopedia Trends describe patterns within the records documented in Velopedia. Archive coverage varies by brand and period, so Trends are not a complete census of the bicycle industry.

Velopedia’s calculators and technical tools produce estimates based on user inputs and the assumptions described by each tool. Results may be affected by inaccurate measurements, unusual equipment, component tolerances, riding conditions, or factors not included in the calculation.

You are responsible for reviewing calculations and confirming that results are appropriate and within manufacturer limits before relying on them. Velopedia does not guarantee that a calculation, trend, analysis, or estimate is complete, accurate, or suitable for a particular bicycle, rider, repair, or application.

13. Marketplace Listings and Bicycle Values

Velopedia may display third-party marketplace listings matched to Bicycle Archive records. These matches may be generated or assisted by automated systems and may occasionally be incomplete, outdated, or incorrect.

Before purchasing anything, independently verify:

• The seller and listing
• Bicycle identity, serial, authenticity, and model year
• Condition, safety, and included equipment
• Ownership and applicable stolen-bike information
• Price, payment, shipping, taxes, return terms, and transaction protections

Market values, price ranges, and listing summaries are estimates based on available marketplace information. Asking prices are not necessarily completed sale prices. Estimates are not certified appraisals and should not be the sole basis for purchasing, selling, insurance, tax, lending, or legal decisions.

Velopedia is not a party to transactions between visitors and third-party sellers and is not responsible for payment, shipping, delivery, title, authenticity, product condition, seller or buyer conduct, returns, disputes, or losses arising from those transactions.

14. Affiliate Disclosure

Velopedia participates in affiliate programs, including the eBay Partner Network.

When you click certain marketplace or merchant links and complete a qualifying transaction, Velopedia may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. An affiliate relationship does not constitute an endorsement, verification, or guarantee of a seller, listing, product, price, Bike History Report, or transaction.

15. Intellectual Property

Velopedia’s original editorial content, branding, site design, organization, graphics, software, research presentation, and original tools are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.

You may:

• Browse and use the website for personal and noncommercial purposes
• Link to public Velopedia pages
• Quote limited portions with clear attribution and a link to the source
• Download or print a Bike History Report when authorized by its sharing link, for evaluating or documenting the associated bicycle

Unless expressly authorized, you may not:

• Reproduce or republish complete articles, archive collections, or substantial portions of the website
• Systematically download, extract, scrape, or redistribute Velopedia content or data
• Remove attribution, source labels, disclosures, report identifiers, or copyright notices
• Present Velopedia content as your own
• Alter a Bike History Report to misrepresent its contents or source
• Use Velopedia content or datasets to train, develop, or evaluate artificial-intelligence models without written permission

Ordinary indexing by legitimate search engines in accordance with Velopedia’s published crawler instructions is permitted.

Manufacturer names, trademarks, product names, specifications, photographs, marketplace content, and other third-party materials remain the property of their respective owners. Their appearance on Velopedia is for identification, historical reference, commentary, or marketplace-linking purposes and does not imply sponsorship or endorsement.

16. External Websites and Services

Velopedia links to manufacturer websites, marketplaces, reference materials, advertisers, and other third-party services.

Velopedia does not control these websites and is not responsible for their availability, accuracy, security, privacy practices, content, products, or services. Your use of a third-party website is governed by that website’s terms and policies.

17. Account Deletion, Suspension, and Data Loss

You may delete individual Garage records or permanently delete the Garage account using the available controls. Deletion may revoke active reports and remove associated active data, subject to backups, logs, legal obligations, transferred records, and copies previously made by other people.

Deleting a former owner’s account does not delete a bicycle record that was already accepted into another member’s Garage.

Velopedia may suspend or terminate access when reasonably necessary for security, maintenance, legal compliance, or enforcement of these Terms. Velopedia may also change, correct, suspend, or discontinue any content, tool, Garage feature, report, transfer, archive record, marketplace feature, or other part of the website at any time.

Keep your own copies of important receipts and service documentation. My Garage is a convenience and reference tool, not the sole recommended storage location for records you cannot replace. Velopedia does not guarantee permanent retention, uninterrupted availability, or recovery of Garage data.

18. Disclaimer of Warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Velopedia and all information, tools, calculations, estimates, listings, Garage features, reports, transfers, and services are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied.

Velopedia does not warrant accuracy, completeness, reliability, availability, fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, non-infringement, safety, ownership, authenticity, title, or that the website will be uninterrupted, secure, or free from errors or harmful components.

19. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Velopedia and its operator will not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive loss arising from or related to:

• Use of or reliance on website content, Archive information, Trends, tools, or calculations
• Bicycle repair, modification, fit, setup, inspection, component selection, purchase, sale, or use
• Inaccurate, incomplete, fraudulent, or outdated Garage or Bike History Report information
• A serial-number conflict, ownership claim, record transfer, report link, copied report, or disclosure made by a member
• Marketplace listings, affiliate links, advertisements, or third-party transactions
• Unauthorized account access or a disclosed sign-in, report, or transfer link
• Website errors, interruptions, deletion, corruption, or loss of data
• Loss of revenue, opportunity, goodwill, property, or bicycle value
• Personal injury, death, or property damage

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions or limitations of liability, so some portions of these sections may not apply to you.

20. Indemnification

To the fullest extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Velopedia and its operator from third-party claims, liabilities, damages, judgments, costs, and reasonable legal fees arising from or related to:

• Your User Content
• A false or misleading Garage record, report, service claim, inspection claim, or ownership representation
• An unauthorized or misdirected bicycle-record transfer
• Your purchase, sale, transfer, repair, modification, or use of a bicycle
• Your violation of these Terms, applicable law, or another person’s rights

This section does not require indemnification for conduct that cannot lawfully be assigned to you.

21. Governing Law and Severability

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where applicable law requires otherwise.

If any provision is found unenforceable, that provision will be limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will continue in effect.

22. Changes to These Terms

Velopedia may update these Terms as the website and its services change. The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date.

Continued use of the website after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms to the extent permitted by law.
