How we choose your shortlist

A Medium from one brand may not match a Medium from another. Bike Finder starts with a broad size group, then compares the position and handling measurements available for similar bikes.

Your preferences guide the search

Riding position and handling preferences set the target within your category. Bikes need enough shared measurements and a close enough geometry match to appear.

One choice per model family

Repeated years and component builds share one result. A different brand gets preference only when the geometry matches are nearly tied.

No invented measurements

Extra geometry can improve a match. Missing optional values stay blank and do not automatically rule a bike out.

Keep the same size as you explore

Geometry Analyzer and Compare keep the selected size and configuration. The Archive record shows the bike’s full published chart.

Frequently asked questions

Does Bike Finder tell me the perfect frame size?

No. It suggests a starting-size group, then finds Archive bikes in specific sizes that match your preferences. Check the manufacturer’s sizing advice and try the bike before buying.

Why are there fewer than eight results?

There may be fewer than eight bikes with enough geometry data in your selected category, motor preference and size group. We show only the bikes that qualify.

Why does each model family appear only once?

Different years and component builds often share a frame. We keep the closest match from each model family so you have more distinct bikes to consider.

How does the optional price range work?

It filters by the bike’s original MSRP, not today’s used price. Enter a minimum, a maximum or both. A bike must still match your geometry preferences and have a known MSRP in that range. Leave both fields blank to search without a price filter.

What should I do with the shortlist?

Open the exact Archive records, confirm each manufacturer’s sizing guidance and compare your strongest two or three candidates. A test ride and normal setup checks still matter before buying.
