Bike Finder begins with a broad normalized size group rather than pretending every brand uses size names consistently. Within that group, it compares the strongest set of published position and handling measurements each record shares with the cohort.

Geometry chooses relevance

Position and handling preferences move the target within the real category cohort. A bicycle must share enough measurements and stay within the distance threshold to appear.

Families stay diverse

Repeated years and component builds are collapsed to one model-family representative. Another brand moves forward only when its geometry is a genuine near tie.

Published data only

Optional geometry can strengthen a match when available, but missing values are never estimated and do not automatically exclude a bicycle.

Frequently asked questions

Does Bike Finder tell me the perfect frame size?

No. It identifies a broad starting-size group and ranks exact published Archive sizes whose geometry supports your preferences. Manufacturer guidance, setup and a test ride still matter.

Why are there fewer than eight results?

Bike Finder stops at the bicycles supported by the selected category, power type and starting-size group. If fewer than eight qualified known-size records are available, it returns fewer results.

Why does each model family appear only once?

Repeated years and build kits can share a chassis. Bike Finder keeps the strongest geometry representative so the list contains meaningfully different choices.

How does the optional price range work?

It uses original MSRP, not an estimate of today’s used price. Enter a minimum, a maximum or both. Only geometry-qualified families with a known original MSRP inside the range can appear; leaving both fields blank keeps price out of the search.

What should I do with the shortlist?

Open the exact Archive records, confirm each manufacturer’s sizing guidance and compare your strongest two or three candidates. A test ride and normal setup checks still matter before buying.
